Last Tuesday, the new SMMUSD Food and Nutrition Services Director Richard Marchini presented to parents representing schools across the district. He and his department now aim to provide scratch cooking at all schools in SMMUSD. But, there is a long path ahead to achieve that goal. Kitchens need major renovations and staff training must be modified and increased. And all these goals are contingent on increased funding from the district. On June 14th, Marchini will present a $600,000 proposal to the school board to equip two school kitchens in SMMUSD to be able to do scratch cooking for the 2018/2019 school year.
