Freshly prepared lunches are being served up!
Did you know that besides frozen corn dogs and brunch for lunch, Franklin now has freshly prepared lunches at least once a week? It’s true, Samohi is cooking up fresh proteins and distributing them to our school! Check out these upcoming meals your kids will love and you’ll feel good about buying:
October 10 – Popin’ Chicken Salad
October 11 – Lemon Garlic Roasted Chicken
October 17 – Chicken Caesar Salad
October 24 – Chef Salad (with turkey, cheese and egg)
October 31 – Southwest Chicken Salad
Don’t forget about the protein and hummus boxes offered on certain days – just have your kids ask for them if they are looking for a healthier option. We are working on increasing the supply of these popular healthy items. Also keep an eye on the salad bar as it will offer more protein like fresh hard-boiled eggs, edamame and garbanzo beans.
If you’d like more information about the strides taking place for healthier food in our cafeteria, please check out PAHF (Parents Advocating Healthy Foods), the PAHF Facebook page or contact Harriet Fraser (firstname.lastname@example.org)
PAHF is a SMMUSD parent group that advocates to provide fresh, healthy meals to all students during the school day. Thank you to Mimi Sroka and Jane Schmitz, two of our Franklin parents who are part of PAHF. Not to sound cheesy, but lettuce be grateful for all they have done for our stew-dents.
