Dear 5th grade Franklin Families,
Before I jump in the shower and wash off my last Pali experience and launder the 20 extra pairs of socks, mittens, and jackets I brought in case someone forgot anything, I wanted to take a moment to thank Ms. Powell, Mr. Gonzalez, and Ms. Flynn for making the trek to Pali Camp with me. Thank you to Mrs. McGregory, Mrs. Hampton, and Ms. Silhavy for manning the fort while we were gone. And thank you to our students who represented Franklin so well. By now, you can tell that in three days your children are more mature, wiser, and more self-reliant (ok, I may be stretching it a bit, but they definitely feel a little different). They were able to get themselves ready in the morning, find food to eat even when Pali served the same spongy “I Can’t Believe These Are Eggs” for breakfast, ask for help if needed, and problem solve on their own. They even had to put their clothing back in their bags alone (we hope they came home with what you packed them).
We did find some extra gear that was left on the bus, so please check the lost and found for these items. If you forgot to pick up medications, they should be in the nurse’s office.
Now that you have hosed off your children, hopefully peeled off their sweatshirts, and had them brush their teeth, we wish you a wonderfully relaxing evening. Your kids are probably still busy telling you all about their adventures; but when they stop to take a breath, give them a big hug and tell them how proud of them you are. By the way, I would like to thank whoever held back the rain for us (it may have been Ms. Powell.) It is currently raining at Pali Camp.
See you all tomorrow at Open House!
