Reflecting on the Year

Thank you to all of the students who entered this year’s Reflections Program and to the parent volunteers who helped make the program such a success.  We have so many talented students at Franklin!  It was a pleasure to see, read and listen to all of your creative and beautiful pieces!

The 2016-2017 Franklin Reflections 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
A special congratulations to Bryce Schatzow for winning 1st Place in the Primary Literature Category at the Santa Monica-Malibu PTA Council Reflections Art Contest and to the following students who received Honorable Mention: Emma Howard (Literature), Bryce Schatzow (Music Composition), Mason Arditi (Music Composition) and Sadie Pearlman (Photography).

It’s not too early to start thinking about next year’s Reflections Program!  The 2017-2018 Reflections Theme is “Within Reach.”  We hope you’ll considering entering! Keep checking for an update on all the Reflections information you’ll need!
The Franklin PTA would also like to take this opportunity to thank Grenda Pearlman for the hours of selfless hard work she devoted to make Reflections happen at Franklin! We are sad to see her leave Reflections, but are happy that she will continue to help the PTA in other ways as she enters her last year as a Franklin parent. She has been an indispensable asset to the PTA, the school, and the community. Thank you, Grenda!

We Are Family! Join our Meal Train for Laurel Shepard

Laurel Shepard is home and resting after having been struck by a car while crossing Montana Avenue on April 30th. She has made tremendous progress, and she has not lost that amazing positive attitude that we all love. While it is wonderful that she is home, she has a long recovery ahead that will be full of ups and downs and both good and bad days. She has a fractured skull, nose, and knee that are still healing. So that she can focus on the healing process, we’d like to help with providing dinners for her family.  Sign up here if you wish to contribute:
The Franklin PTA considers each and every parent, guardian, and child in the Franklin community a member of the Franklin family.  A special PTA fund has been set aside called Franklin Cares, whereby members of our Franklin family can discreetly receive assistance in times of severe hardship.  The Franklin community replenishes this fund with a modest annual donation ($5) requested in the beginning of each school year in the first day packets.  Thank you so much for your continued support of this program.
