Creative kids are happy kids. That’s why over 125 1st – 5th graders have been gathering every Tuesday after lunch for our weekly “Tuesday Art Party.” Each week we offer your young ones a selection of crafts and small projects to bring out their inner Picassos.
We could really use any extra craft supplies you are willing to donate: tape, paper, glue, pipe cleaners, washable paint, paintbrushes, googly eyes, colored pencils, magic markers, Sharpie permanent markers, seasonal supplies, empty soda cans, art smocks, etc. If you don’t have anything lying around the house, most of these items can be found at Michaels — or even the 99 Cents store. There is a box in the front office for craft donations.
Sponsorship is also welcome, of course, as it is often cheaper and easier to buy things in bulk. If interested, please make check payable to Franklin PTA and earmark “activity cart” in the memo section.
With such a huge turnout, we would love to find one or two other parent volunteers to help out on Tuesdays between 12:00 and 1:30 PM. (Full disclosure: you must be able to deal with loud noise and controlled chaos — but it is tons of fun and totally worth it.)
A HUGE “Thank You” to parent volunteer, Sean Daly, for creating “Tuesday Art Party!” It wouldn’t be the huge success it is without his passion and enthusiasm. Also, an equally large “thank you” to Deb Javerbaum for her hard work and involvement with this weekly event.
We also need a few parents to help supervise a group of kids on Wednesdays at lunch recess twice a month from 12:00-1:15. This is a regular activity cart day and quieter than the “Tuesday Art Party.” You would bring out the game/art cart from the MPR room and supervise the children during that time. The kids are responsible for cleaning up their mess and putting everything back on the cart. We will train — no experience necessary. This is a great chance for parents to get involved at Franklin and have fun.
