The Franklin Elementary School Site Governance Council (SGC) is looking for parents to run for membership. This year’s election is for six parent representatives, each serving a two-year term. The SGC is comprised of elected parent representatives, teachers, and administrators, and is involved in many aspects of the school, including developing the school Site Plan, which seeks to increase academic achievement.
The term of service for parent members is two years, but terms are staggered to maintain continuity. We actively encourage representation from all members of the Franklin parent body. Membership on the SGC entails attending monthly meetings that are generally conducted on the last Monday of the month at 3:15 p.m. These meetings are vital to the Council’s role, and attendance is strongly encouraged.
ELIGIBILITY AND ELECTION
In order to be eligible for election, a candidate must have children at Franklin during the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 school years. To add your name to the ballot, please submit a brief biography (5-6 lines only) via email to Craig Zund at firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, May 19. If you do not have access to email and prefer to submit by paper, please submit your bio to the front office by the end of the day on Thursday, May 19.
