After over a year of proposing, sketching, waiting, planning, surveying, meeting, debating, voting, waiting, ordering, paying, praying, fabricating, and finally erecting, the Franklin PTA is proud to present to the school its first Large Sun Shade. By surveying parents and discussing at PTA and administrative meetings last year, it was apparent that the lack of shade was concerning, so the PTA decided to make this a priority.
Hopefully this is just one of many campus improvements that will oooh and aaah parents, students, and faculty in the months to come! Stay tuned, but in the meantime stay cool(er)!
Without a doubt, our super shade structure would not be here at Franklin today were it not for the tireless efforts of our fabulous former PTA President Megan Histand, who led the entire process last year with the passion and intensity needed to get the job done. We would also like to acknowledge the Herculean efforts of our volunteer architect Ryan Robinett, who spent many many unpaid hours mapping out the project in relation to the entire campus, meeting with Franklin administration and district representatives, traveling to downtown LA to meet with this department and that commission to get our permits and approvals and okays, and presenting the process at PTA meetings. Wow, what a volunteer! Next time you see either of them (pictured above) on campus, please give them the thanks they deserve. Thank you Megan and Ryan!!!
