Especially Encouraging our TK-K-1 Parents to attend!
School Smarts is a California State PTA’s research based, award-winning program that promotes inclusion and meaningful parent engagement. It helps parents from all backgrounds gain knowledge and skills to be more effective advocates and leaders on behalf of their children and all children at Franklin and McKinley!
Facilitator led sessions where parents will have the opportunity to meet and hear from various professionals and representatives within our community and SMMUSD about:
- Parent Involvement
- Preparing for a lifetime of learning
- Understanding our education system
- Understanding our local school system
- Becoming an effective communicator
- Taking action and celebrating leadership
Sessions are Thursday 8:30-10:00 AM

School Smarts is a parent engagement program designed to help parents and guardians become more knowledgeable and involved in their elementary schools. The program is based on statewide parent research and is being offered in select schools in California. It is supported by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, in partnership with the California State PTA.
