Do you love the creative arts? Are you passionate about games and fun? Come volunteer at the Art Cart! We’re in need of volunteers just for an hour during the day to help keep this space for kids! Sign up for a shift here:
The Franklin Art & Activity Cart is a fun, parent supported area that provides a place for children during recess where they can draw, paint, use crafts, play with Magna tiles, make paper airplanes, play games, dance, make jewelry and more! Come help supervise Franklin students during their recess time and make a lasting impact while sharpening pencils and keeping the space tidy. This is a very fun way to be involved with your child as well as all of the other students during lunch.
Can’t make it during the day to volunteer? You can still help out! Drop off any unwanted or extra craft supplies, pens, pencils, markers, string at the donation bin near the front office!
Days: Any week day (except Wednesdays, which is the Weekly DJ Dance Party!)
Time: 12:00pm – 1:20pm
Place: At the Tables near the MPR Room
We’re looking for parent volunteers to sign-up for 1 1/2 shifts as little as 1 day a month!
What is Art & Activity Cart? The recess Art & Activity Cart is a shared space offered all week to all students K-5 during their lunch period and is intended for CREATIVE, FRIENDLY and IMAGINATIVE play. It is a place to do fun arts, crafts, and activities; play games; and make friends. This space is a thriving hub of creative activity and is the heart of recess for so many students. It is also a 100% parent and PTA led initiative – without your help, we wouldn’t be able to offer this incredible space to Franklin students. We are short on parent volunteers and need your help to keep this space going.
When is Art Cart? For Grades 1-5, the Art & Activity Cart is offered during lunch M/T/Th/F, 12:00 PM -1:30 PM on the Big Yard next to the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR). Each Wednesday the Art & Activity Cart turns into a special DJ Dance Party on the Big Yard and is led by a dedicated parent volunteer.
For Kindergarten, it is offered M/T/Th/F, 11:30 AM -12:15 PM in front of Mr. Clark (Room 8) and Ms. Berman’s Class (K-31).
NOTE: There is no Art Cart on Minimum Days for either yard.
How Else Can I Help? There is a donation bin at the Front Office where you can donate excess art and crafting materials such as tape, paper, glue sticks, popsicle craft sticks, scratch paper, pipe cleaners, foam stickers and more. We also take donations of games, craft books, and other activities fun for children Grades K-5.
