Forever committed to Youth Development
Driven by its founding mission, the Y is committed to developing youth to become healthy, confident, and reach their full potential. We also strive to equip them with tools to become change-makers and create the kind of communities they want to live in.
Even though the Y had to pause most of its youth programs during this crisis, we continue to find positive solutions to address the pressing needs our kids face today. We implemented stringent new health protocols to keep our children and staff safe, so parents could go back to work on the front lines. This summer we expanded our essential care into a day camp experience as more parents returned to the workforce. With the new school year starting, children will have a safe and enriching environment at the Y to complete their distance learning assignments.
Now, more than ever, our kids need social peer engagement, academic support to keep up with their grade level studies, and plenty of physical activity and creative crafts to bolster their well-being. That is what we do. We help kids reach their full potential.
Empowering Teens to reach their full potential. This has also been a stressful and uncertain time for teens trying to make sense of our changing world and how to adapt. As our future change-makers, the Y is innovating new opportunities to empower them to build leadership skills, vital social skills, and character building support. Historically, the Y used the Youth and Government program to give teens such a platform which is currently not feasible. Again, the Y adapted to this change and is revising the format to provide a virtual delegation focused on local civic engagement. This is another example of the Y doing all it can to ensure that youth of all ages have the opportunity to get involved and see what the power of today’s youth can achieve together.
