Dear Franklin Families,
Welcome back to our returning families and a big WELCOME to all new families. We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. McGregory as our new Franklin Principal this year! Mrs. McGregory has already touched the hearts of so many of our students and families and we are excited for this new chapter at Franklin under her leadership. With her guidance and the support of an absolutely incredible team of experienced and inspiring teachers, Franklin will continue to inspire and equip each and every child to become a life-long learner and positive contributor to society.
I am honored to volunteer as your PTA President this year and am joined by a dedicated group of parent volunteers and a committed PTA Executive Board. One of the many qualities that makes Franklin such an amazing place to go to school is the strength of our PTA. Through generous contributions to our PTA annual fund and support of our fundraisers (like the much loved Carnival taking place on October 26th!), you make it possible for the PTA to provide educational and art supplies to all of our classrooms, subsidize field trips and assemblies, purchase laptops and educational software that our children use to support their learning on a daily basis, make improvements to Franklin’s physical environment and fund exciting new educational initiatives. Be on the lookout for all new, modern classroom furniture this year — thanks to your donations to the PTA! Over the years, the PTA has provided many learning opportunities and social activities that, in partnership with the Santa Monica Education Foundation, would have otherwise been unavailable to our students. We are so proud of the many ways in which we support our teachers and students at Franklin, and I welcome your feedback on how we are doing.
As we begin another school year, we ask for your support once again so that we can continue making resources and learning opportunities available to all of our students and staff. I also encourage you to consider becoming involved in the life of this vibrant school by giving of your time. Whether you have significant time to give to the PTA or just 30 minutes, we have opportunities available! Your ideas, your time, your talents and your voice are all needed for the PTA to be effective and truly representative of the school. As I enter my 8th year as a Franklin parent, I can say with conviction that I have received as much, if not more, than I have given in time over the years. Our parents love interacting with students and
becoming friends with other parents when they volunteer, and when we accomplish things that truly make a difference for our students, we all benefit.
