budget deficit

Prop 38 for Franklin

Next year, SMMUSD will have a $10 million budget deficit.

Franklin will have even bigger class sizes, and face teacher layoffs and program cuts.  Our PTA will need to raise a lot more funds just to keep up with our current standards.  When Centralized Fundraising starts July 2014, Franklin PTA won’t be able to fund classroom aids and technologist directly. They will be centrally funded by the district.

Proposition 38 will provide $10 billion annually over twelve years to California public schools based on the number of students enrolled at each school.  Money goes directly to our local schools.  Sacramento cannot touch it.

Franklin can use the 38 money to reduce class sizes, pay for teachers, aids, technologist, nurses, counselors, as well as many other programs that will enable our children to have a well rounded education including art, music, math, science and technology.

The numbers below reflect a projected snapshot of how much new funding Franklin Elementary and SMMUSD will get in the first full year, fifth year and the twelfth year of Prop 38:

Every school and every child in our district will benefit. Official Website: www.prop38forlocalschools.org
