“Bring A Thing” Q & A

“Bring-A-Thing”
Please drop your filled Thing Box off in the orange bin at the front office. Boxes are due this Monday October 21st. Make sure your teacher’s name is on the bottom so your class gets credit!

What’s that “thing” you ask?
“Bring-A-Thing” is a Carnival Booth!!

Is it a swap or like a Secret Santa thing?
Not at all…it’s a new Carnival booth. Think of it as a raffle for unused goodie bag stuff. It’s just a fun way to involve all the kids and get them excited for Franklin’s largest family event.

Do I need to go out and buy stuff?
No, this activity was not intended to be an expense for parents. Clean out your kid’s collection of hoarded items from other carnivals, birthday parties and gumball machines (minus the candy), anything in new condition is perfect!

What type of things should we put in and how much is appropriate?
Think of it as party favor or goodie bag stuff -nothing more than you would give for that.

How nice should the items be?
Whatever looks new-ish…maybe something you’d give out at your kid’s birthday party.

Can I just put in some cash and be done with it?
Please don’t. That really sets the wrong precedence for the kids. We don’t want the expectation to be of a monetary value. We know how competitive they get already; this is intended to be fun and inclusive. If you really want to contribute to Carnival…you may do so by clicking HERE

What’s the incentive? It’s not like it’s going to a charitable cause.
Actually, it’s going to a very worthy cause…our children’s education. All funds made from Carnival go directly back to Franklin…and we all know the state of our schools right now.

I don’t want my kid going home with all that stuff, why bother going to the booth – its just junk?
Not so. We will comb through each box and remove anything we wouldn’t want going home with our child. Then we’ll “even-out” all the boxes, so that they are equitable and fun. We’ll be adding some extra goodies and sneaking in the special surprises randomly…you’ll never know what to expect! Shhhh…word has it – Italian ice gift cards & other good loot.

I have lots of “things” to donate for extra boxes, would you like them?
Yes! If you have a bunch of “things” that you would like to donate for extra Bring-A-Thing boxes, contact Allison Barber. Allison will be assembling extra boxes so there will be enough for everyone at carnival. We gave away all of our boxes within the first 2 hours of carnival last year, so we want as many as possible!

Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and participation!
These mysterious boxes will be available at the Bring-A-Thing Booth on Carnival Day!

Ticket Sales begin Monday morning October 22nd!
Continued thanks to our Premiere Sponsor – Kate Bransfield!
