Parent Education’s January Mtg has been rescheduled to Feb. 12th

Due to a scheduling conflict with the guest speaker, Franklin Parent Education Group’s January Meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday February 12, 2013 8:45 am, Room 3

Dr. Dan Peters, Co-Founder/Clinical Director at the Summit Center, speaking on:

Raising Creative Kids (based on his book with the same title)

“Where can I learn more about how to support my creative child?…How can I support my child’s creativity when they are not getting it at school?…Are all kids so intense and driven?…How do I respect my child’s individuality while also helping him to conform to the rules of life?…How come my child can focus on things she is interested in, but not on things she is supposed to do?”

Do any of these questions sound familiar? If so, Raising Creative Kids is for you. Utilizing their decades of teaching, counseling, and parenting, the authors describe what creativity is (and isn’t), the characteristics of creative children and adolescents- their brains, development and maturation – and how to nurture their creative ability and spirit, while also helping them to develop the necessary “executive” skills needed for school and life success. Dr. Dan Peters will share parts of his book which is filled with parenting strategies that are designed to raise responsible and trustworthy individuals who will be able to use their creative abilities to live fulfilling and meaningful lives both in the present and into their future.
