Hello Franklin Families!
I’d like to first welcome all of our new families to our Franklin community! Understanding that the doors of our beloved school will remain closed for the time being, please know our district and site staff have worked countless hours this summer planning and preparing for our students to have a robust and engaging distance learning experience this fall. I know there is great anxiety and anticipation regarding all of the various pieces that always need sorting in the beginning of a new school year, but this year is like no other. Despite the challenges inherent in distance learning, we are committed to providing your child with a true school experience. We take this responsibility seriously and are fully- committed in doing so. I would like to acknowledge that, while these times feel uncertain for all of us, we look forward to the start of the 2020-2021 school year and to continuing our collaboration with you in providing our students with a quality education. As always, I am available should you have any questions.
We are strong TOGETHER!! Go Bolts!!
Your Loving Principal,
CONSISTENCY + STRUCTURE + LOVE = EXCELLENCE
Dear Franklin Families,
At Franklin, we can PTA in many ways and we welcome everyone to join in. There is no wrong or right way to be involved – anything you can give, whether it is time or money we want to get to know you and your family, and support your child’s potential. Franklin is well known in our community for its exceptional parental involvement and the difference it makes in every kid’s life at our school. In a normal year we would be out in the classrooms volunteering, gardening, supervising lunches and art carts but also taking a sincere interest in legislation, advocacy and fundraising. This year will be different but rest assured that we will do everything we can to keep connected and support the kids.
Please go to our website franklinschoolpta.org to learn all about the latest happenings at Franklin. I also encourage you to subscribe to our weekly newsletter the Franklin Flash. You do so by going to the website above and filling out your details. Please note that if you have already subscribed to the Flash you do not need to do so again.
Also, make sure to follow us on Facebook. You find us @franklinschoolsantamonica. Please note that this is the PTA’s only official account. No other accounts are affiliated with us.
Jane Schmitz Franklin PTA President, 2020 / 2021
I am excited to be serving as Franklin’s Ed Foundation Liaison this year.
As your Ed Foundation Liaison, I am your connection to the Ed Foundation. The Ed Foundation is the only organization that can raise funds for staff and programs during the school day at Franklin. This includes our P.S. Arts classes, instructional assistants, and annual stretch grant. These staff and programs are just as important during distance learning! If you have not already made your donation, you can donate anytime at smedfoundation.org/donate. Your continued support is vital to maintain these programs for our students.
You’ll hear from me throughout the year about the importance of your donation to the Ed Foundation.
Please reach out anytime if you have any questions or ideas. My email is CMAHAMITRA@msn.com.
Welcome Franklin families from Julie and Rachel at Special Education PTA!
The Special Education PTA was created to support parents and guardians of special needs/disabled students and Franklin teachers. Our goals include helping parents understand their rights; offering information about resources (i.e. therapist, doctors, books and organizations); bridging the gap between parents and the administration; creating community building activities/programs that benefit all children and families; facilitating staff training; and hosting events and speakers to raise awareness and educate about the special needs of our diverse community.
We will be hosting online meetings and support groups throughout the year. Contact us with questions or to get on our event mailing list at FranklinSpecialPTA@gmail.com. We hope to see you soon!
Rachel Vine and Julie Ginsberg
