Now that the November 2020 election is over (or at least, the polls have closed), the priority for public schools is to maintain funding for schools. PTA is asking for your help – contact your elected officials and request that schools be included in the next round of COVID-19 relief. Here is a link that allows you to email all California U.S. representatives and Senators.
Election results: The PTA’s priority state ballot measures, Proposition 15 and Proposition 16, did not pass in Tuesday’s election. This means that fundraising and equality will be all the more important for continued advocacy efforts. We appreciate all of you who have helped efforts for our children and communities.
Santa Monica Measure SM, our local priority measure, did get voter approval, which is great news for continued support for Santa Monica public schools in the current economic downturn. This ballot measure will increase a one-time tax for the sale of property of more than $5 million, with proceeds going to the City general fund. The City has offered substantial support for the District for many years, totalling more than $335 million since 2003.
