Calling All Book Lovers-Franklin Reading Club!

We will be kicking off our Franklin Reading Club in September with the theme, Back to School! Every month we will be providing a theme, and students are encouraged to read on the theme, then fill out the Reading Club Journal pages we will have available at the library. At the end of every theme month, we will display those pages in the library as book recommendations to other students, so get ready!

The Reading Club is Back!

The Reading Club, started last year, to promote ALL the books that we have in our fantastic Franklin Library: sports biographies, DIY books, books translated into English from foreign languages, is back and better than ever!

Every month we offer the kids to read books based on a theme. Right now it is ”Back to School”, and next month we will be launching ”Manga and other Graphic Novels”. Mr. Tse, the school librarian, creates a large selection of books on the theme, and displays them on the green cart next to the checkout desk in the library. There are books for all ages, and levels - students are welcome to check out any book that takes their fancy. As an added bonus, if you check out a book from the green cart, you can still check out another library book as well!

All kids (TK-5) are welcome to participate in the Reading Club. To participate, students come to the library, either during their library hours or during recess, and sign up for the program with one of our volunteers. Students will receive their own Reading Club Journal where they are asked to write (and/or draw)  about the book they read. They present their entries either to Mr. Tse or to one of the library volunteers to get them approved. For our youngest participants, who may not yet be reading, we encourage parents to read to their child.
