Franklin’s PTA Represented at CA PTA’s Legislative Conference
Jayanthi Daniel, legislative chair for the Franklin Elementary School PTA, recently attended the California State PTA's Legislative Conference, which invites school-level, district-wide, and regional PTAs together for two days of advocacy with state representatives. Issues discussed at the conference included protecting immigrant and LGBTQ+ children in California schools, and how schools affected by the wildfires could receive more support in funding and mental health staffing. State Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi, head of the Assembly Education Committee, and State Senator Ben Allen -- a Franklin Elementary parent himself! -- joined a delegation of Los Angeles-based PTA members in a smaller discussion about these issues later in the conference.
