Jan 21 SCHOOL UPDATE FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS

Dear Bolts:

Thank you for all your continued support. We appreciate our Bolt family!

We are excited and proud to share this special message, "Our Franklin Environment," from four of our amazing student environmental advocates:

Hello, fellow Franklin Bolts! We have noticed some environmental hazards around our campus, and we just want to address this to the school, so we can work to make it better. This school can fix these problems if we all join together, and when we succeed, Franklin will be the best-looking learning zone in Santa Monica. Franklin school is one of the most amazing campuses in the whole SMMUSD district, but to keep it that way we all must do our part and keep this school spic and span.

Many students have been accidentally throwing their leftover food and trash in the wrong bins without even thinking twice where it actually belongs, and unfortunately this conflict is getting much worse every day. We must act upon this and motivate our peers, students, and maybe a few staff members to polish up the trash problem we have been dealing with for quite some time now.

To clear the mystery up for you, we'll tell you what goes in what bin. Aluminum foil, soda cans, juice cans, soups cans, vegetable cans, pet food cans, pie tins, and empty paint and aerosol cans go into the recycling bin. You can also put paper and cardboard in the recycling. Please try to have all of this wiped out if possible. Banana peels, potato skins, apple cores, orange peels, etc., go into the compost bin. And pretty much anything else goes in the landfill! That includes plastic bags.

Franklin is a very presentable and honorable school, so let's make sure it says that way for a long period of time. C'mon Franklin! We can do this! Let's keep this school clean and pristine!

And one more note from our health and safety team:

The Lost and Found Bin is overflowing!! Please have you child look for the items he/she left behind. If you have a description of a specific item, please text our PTA Health and Safety VP Jūra at 310-702-1317.

Have a wonderful and safe weekend!

Your loving principal duo,

Mrs. McGregory & Mrs. Hynding
