“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I will learn.”

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I will learn.”  – Benjamin Franklin

The Franklin PTA is proud to share the final school mural that now faces Montana Ave along the exterior walls of the Cafe for the entire Santa Monica community.

There were many improvements over the last few months that all of the kids will be able to use -- the sunshade awnings over the lunch tables were fixed, aligned, and reinforced. Franklin alumni, David Zhao, Eagle Scout from our community Troop 2, along with his family and fellow scouts built our school's two new meditation benches. The PTA added two new umbrellas and Little Free Library boxes. Our Cafe walls are now done and the last step will be the garden, plaque and ribbon cutting ceremony to be scheduled in May.

Our muralist from Beautify Earth, Sel Blanco, worked tirelessly through the month of December to ensure it was ready for all to see upon the return to school. The mural is truly a gift from the PTA as it represents our school's core values. It showcases Ben Franklin, his inventions, and how they are represented in the present day. This is a new, fresh, updated, and modernized look for Franklin and we are proud to say it is complete.

So when you drive by school, please take a look at this masterpiece.
