Holiday Book Fair - Dec 4 - 8th Various Times

'Tis the season for the Holiday Book Fair!  We'll have books for all ages, from Peppa Pig to The Pioneer Woman, plus favorite goodies like spy pens, fancy erasers and glittery journals that make wonderful stocking stuffers and Chanukah presents. Get your holiday shopping done, donate a book to your classroom library or to the kids being treated at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and share your love of reading with your kids. Save the dates for this Franklin favorite community event:

WHERE: The Cafetorium

WHEN

Monday, 12/4 until 4pm

Tuesday, 12/5 until 4pm

Wednesday, 12/6 until 3pm

Thursday, 12/7 until 6pm - *special evening hours* - Montana Gate will be open

Friday, 12/8 until lunch - It's Move-a-Thon day so come on by!

Or shop online at FrankinBookFair.com any time from Dec 4 - Dec 17.

HOW: We take cash, credit, Apple Pay and eWallets, which you can set up for your child in advance at FranklinBookFair.com. Kids with an eWallet account can bring their barcode to school (if you print it out) or we can simply look up their names at the register. Any unspent funds roll into a credit for Scholastic.com.

WHY: Not only do 25% of sales go directly into Franklin Elementary programs like field trips, academic software, Science Fair and teacher grants, but we also donate books to both classroom libraries and local charities. Plus, for many kids, this is their first chance to buy something at a store on their own. They learn about paying with cash, getting change, estimating sales tax, and making the hard choices between the newest Dogman and a Super Mario poster.

WHAT: Books, books, books, but also a fun Candy Cane guess for all students (winners get a Book Fair shopping spree), holiday music and decorations, and good vibes. Don't want to spend a lot? We have a great selection of $2 books.

SPECIAL GUEST STARS

For this year's AUTHOR TALK, we are very proud to present Morgan Matson, the NY Times best-selling YA author who is introducing her wonderful new middle grade chapter book, The Firefly Summer. She will be leading three grade-level assemblies (TK/K/1, 2/3, 4/5) on Tuesday, 12/5 and can answer all the kids' questions about how to write a book!

If you're interested in reading the The Firefly Summer before the Holiday Book Fair, Zibby's Bookshop at 1113 Montana Avenue has tons of copies AND they're offering it to Franklin families at a discount. Go get your copy of The Firefly Summer, then bring it to book fair for Morgan Matson to sign! She will be on campus Tuesday, 12/5 until lunchtime AND Wednesday, 12/6 during lunch to sign more books.

Plus, Scholastic is sending us a Morgan Matson book for the YA audience called Take Me Home Tonight (described as Ferris Bueller’s Day Off meets Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) that you can pick up for older sibs AND get signed by the author!

But wait, we have more celebrities! Franklin's own Miss Terri, who is not only a para-educator but is also the creator of the Darby Gator picture book series, will be signing copies of her brand new book Gertie Marigold and the Ice Cream Dilemma on Wednesday 1:30-3pm and Thursday 3p-4pm. (Cash Only, $13 each)

Don't miss out on the fun! Reach out with any questions to Book Fair Co-Chairs Jessica Haberli and Amy Wruble.
