Congratulations to all teachers, staff, administration and students, it has been a fantastic school year! I want to give a big thanks to our PTA Executive Board, our dedicated volunteers and, a special, thank you to Kelley Harman, our 5th VP of Communications and her deputy, Kathleen Cho, who worked weekly to publish our school newsletter, the Flash,.

This is thee last week to get your Lost and Found. Send your student or come by the Lost and Found in the main building hall and grab your missing lunch bags, water bottles, hats or beautiful sweatshirts. They're here waiting for pick up until June 3rd when all Items be cleared for donation. Thank you! Your Health and Safety Chairs.

It has been an incredible year of growth, patience, beauty and awesome taste tests at our Franklin Garden beds and classroom gardens. Thank you to all our awesome volunteers for your perseverance, thank you to our student gardeners for all your hard work and dedication, thank you rains and sun, See you at summer adventure or fall harvest!  Thank you to Gardening Club Volunteers!

Earlier this week, the second graders were treated to a production of "A Year with Frog and Toad" at the Morgan Wixson Theater. For many second graders, this was their first field trip ever (and school bus ride!) due to previous Covid restrictions. The funny musical was a hit, especially the "stretch break" intermission games led by members of the cast. Thank you to everyone who participated in the 5th grade food drive for Upward Bound House.  We collected food items over a two week period and the 5th graders were able to sort and organize it last week. They also made cards and pictures. Our donations filled a minivan and were dropped off at their facility last week.  We also appreciate all the 5th graders who came out to the UBH fun run.  It was an enjoyable way to support families who are working on gaining emotional and financial stability.

Our deepest thanks to the parent (and grandparent) volunteers who showed up at the library week in and week out to read to our kids, help them find and check out books and assist our wonderful librarian Mr. Tse.

This year we saw a cow eyeball dissection, learned about the human heart and comets, watched rockets fly on the Franklin blacktop, participated in a STEAM museum, explored a Waymo self-driving car, and ended the year watching water balloons drop from Ms. Flynn’s 2nd floor classroom.

At our final Book Cafe of the year, this Franklin mom brought something sweet - her homemade Basque cheesecake, blueberry muffins and banana bread. Olena Tokareva and her daughter Maia fled Ukraine last year and we're lucky to have them at Franklin! Have an occasion coming up that calls for a memorable dessert? You can reach Olena here.

The PTA Honored several of our parent volunteers, faculty and admiration for their years of service at the Honorary Service Awards. it was great night and wonderful to see so many folks support those of us who make Franklin such a wonderful community. And a big thank you to parent Jelena Trifunovic of Viola Floral who made the evening look stunning.. Click here to see all of the recipients.

Franklin’s Annual Water Balloon Drop was back this last week! Over 50 student created water balloon safety devices that were dropped from the 2nd floor window of Ms Flynn’s classroom and it was an exciting site to see. Devices included a variety of materials including cardboard, bubble wrap, parachutes, and even a helium balloon. Thank you for all the hardworking, creative participants and congratulations to everyone who had a surviving water balloon!

ATTENTION: Reading Club readers! We are collecting the completed book club Chronicles by May 30th. Please turn them into Mr. Tse or library volunteers at our library. All prize winners will be announced at our June 2nd assembly.
