Reflections Contest Keeps the Hits Coming!

A huge congratulations to two of our own who have made it to the next level of the PTA Reflections contest! The theme was "I am hopeful because ..." and our students truly excelled creatively as they took that topic in so many valuable directions. The District has chosen two of Franklin student's work to continue on, and we could not be prouder of their achievement!

First we have Eli Porter in Mrs. Hakomori's class who wrote an excellent poem, titled "Tardy No More (Hopefully)", about his hopefulness to stick to the goal of getting to school on time. He won for the Primary division of the Literature category! Well done Eli!

Second we have Brett Woodruff in Mrs. Hampton's class who drew an art piece titled "A Future with Women" where she details her hopes of a student in the future reading a history book about the first female president of the United States. She won for the Intermediate division of the Visual Arts Category! Good job Brett!

Finally, in our extended Franklin family, a shout out and congratulations to Lily Hynding - a sophomore at Samohi and daughter to our beloved Mrs. Hynding - who won in the High School division of the Literature category for her essay titled "The One". Her piece focused on the importance of hope and how we should never give up, despite the challenges of COVID, or judgments of others, and a reminder to let the power of the human spirit shine through. Congratulations Lily!

Keep on the lookout for Reflections next year - the theme will be "Accepting Imperfections" which I imagine our talented students will interpret in ways we can't even imagine yet. We can't wait!
