Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company. They are bringing their fully autonomous public ride-hailing service, Waymo One, to Franklin for the Science Club on Wednesday, April 19th at 6pm. During the presentation we will learn about the technology that allows the vehicle to navigate city streets with no driver! Students will have an opportunity to ask questions and get an up close look at the all electric Jaguar I-Pace that is equipped with Waymo technology. The presentation will be in the MPR (enter the campus by Cafetorium) and the demo vehicle will be on the Blacktop.

Let us pick Lettuce!!! Did you get a special delivery from a gardening club student-gardener this Wednesday? We had so much fun picking and packing our lettuce heads with the help of our awesome volunteer and Franklin alum - Margaret. The students loved sharing our leafy goodness with families and staff. THURSDAY: Dress as if you were in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, or even farther back!

FRIDAY: Pajama Day! (no slippers allowed)

We are excited to announce that our very own Franklin Dad Matthew Farrar (twin boys Oscar and Oliver are in 1st grade!) will be exhibiting his beautiful photographic works at The Other Art Fair March 30th – April 2nd, Barkar Hangar, Santa Monica. This is a fantastic fair featuring 140 up-and-coming artists from all over the world. Art is affordable and fair is kid-friendly!

The Santa Monica Ed Foundation is gearing up for the Wine Auction with a pre-event on Sunday, March 26th at 6:30pm at The Fig. Register here.

The Santa Monica Wine Auction, benefiting the Ed Foundation, takes place on Sunday, May 7th, and we are putting together a Franklin Wine Basket for the event’s silent auction! Please consider donating a bottle that has special meaning to you – your wedding wine, a winery you’ve visited, your favorite special occasion bottle, etc. The wine should be valued at $20 or more. Please attach a note with your “story of the wine” and sign the label, and then separately provide a brief description and the dollar value of the wine (this can be printed from the internet). Stephanie Sea our school’s Ed Foundation Liaison, will be happy to arrange for private pick-up/drop-off.

Exploring Restorative Justice Community Event led by Robert Howard March 16 at 6:30pm at Samohi in D100 located on the ground floor of the Discovery Building. Parking is available in the Discovery building lot accessed through the Olympic Gate of the campus.

CREST Camp is an enriching day camp held for youth ages 8-14, offering a combination of indoor and outdoor activities. Students will be assigned to a cohort pod with whom they will remain with for the entire day. Campers will experience a variety of enrichment, recreation, sports activities and a weekly trip.

Start thinking of projects and experiments for our annual Science Fair. Here is a packet with loads of info. Tri-Fold Posters are now available for students to pick up in the front office. 5th-grade students will receive the posters directly from their teachers.
